Pluvigner      SuperU - To the roundabout on approaching the town.  Exit signed Auray
and the supermarket is to the East of the town on your left.

Baud            Intermarche and Champion - on the outskirts of Baud, on the road North
                   towards the N24 and Pontivy.

Petrol and diesel is available at each of these supermarkets.  Pumps are usually manned with an assistant at the paydesk during the normal daytime hours of working.

CAUTION - Petrol stations often indicate a 24/24 service, but these are generally automated and without an attendant outside the regular day time working hours. Do not assume that your British credit card will be accepted in the automated 24/24 pumps.  You may prefer to purchase fuel while the pay booth is attended and credit cards can be processed manually.

VISITING MOBILE PROVISION

A klaxan heralds the arrival of visiting merchants to the village.  Tuesday - groceries / Wednesday - fish / Thursday - meat.

OUTINGS - Good places to visit - everywhere

LOCALLY - Enjoy exploring by bike or on foot.  The forest is good to explore.  There is a local ‘lavoire’ (communal clothes washing area) and menhirs (e.g.

Menhir de l’etoile), picnic areas etc.

Le petit bois is very pleasant for picnics - it is used for fishing and an adventure area has been built for those keen on being high off the ground.

THE COAST - For lovely safe beaches Carnac or Trinite rur Mer are the nearest.  Carnac is a popular resort that also has a fishing port and pleasure port.  West side of the Quiberon peninsular for Atlantic surf.  The water is calm and warmer on the West side of the peninsular.

We have been told that Île aux Moines is a popular island in the Golfe du Morbihn, with excellent beaches, reached by a short boat crossing from Port Blanc.  You can also take a boat trip round the Golfe du Morbihan from Larmor-Baden, with a stop for 1½ hours on the Île aux Moines.

The area around Carnac and the Locmariaquer peninsular is famous for standing stone and other prehistoric remains.

INLAND - Towns and villages, forest and rivers.  The River Blavet is very pleasant, with easy walks along the tow path (canoeing is signposted from Baud).

If you visit Auray, be sure to walk down the steep cobbled street to the harbour.  This takes you to the medieval part of the town.  A lovely spot for sitting outside the bars on a warm summer evening, listening to live music.

Ste Anne d’Auray, to the North East of Auray, is famous for pilgrimage. Vannes is a worthwhile for a day trip to spend time strolling around the port, the historic buildings and the extensive selection of shops.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Make use of the tourist information offices to find out what is going on in the area during your stay.  The nearest is on the ground floor of the Town Hall in Pluvigner.  Also, ask neighbours and people in the village.

There may be festivals, music, ‘Fest-noz’ or special markets.  There are maps and tourist information in the sitting room, but this may not include current events.
